BEYONCÉ OR BEETHOVEN?:
What You Should Know About the Mind-Music Connection

Can certain music enhance cognitive functioning or access “locked” emotion?  Do certain chords have aphrodisiacal powers?  Can seemingly “innocent” melodies depress your mood or pave the way to self-destructive behaviors?  Do men and women hear music differently?

In this interactive, multimedia workshop, you will learn how to help yourself and your clients by shaping musical listening choices.  Participants are invited to bring their favorite musical selections  (CD, mp3,  iPhone, iPad, Android, etc.) for a custom psycho-musical  analysis.

Presenter:

David Horvath, Ph.D, PMHNP-BC is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with over 30 years experience in mental health, and is also an accomplished musician. He has a degree in music composition and earned his doctorate at NYU where he researched the effect of music on mood.
