Previti Pizza

Seems to me a lot of hype here...notice they have a tie-in with Yelp..

But if you read reviews you will see not everyone thinks it is the best around or anything--one person actually says, " It is all the rave reviews for a place like this that make you doubt the accuracy of Yelp reviews"

Awesome spot for a quick lunch!! We went a little after regular lunch hours after a touristy visit to Grand Central and found a spot for all three of us easily. There are probably only 15 or so spots to sit, so takeout is probably a good idea.

I loved, loved, loved my regular foccacia with just mozzarella and red sauce. The thick crust was crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. I also tried the eggplant pizza, which was essentially eggplant parm, in all its golden fried goodness, on a pizza. Amazing.

This place is appealing to tourists because of the seating and TVs. The food is bad. The music is too loud. Go elsewhere.

I waited 10 minutes for a plain slice at 1:40. When I got the slice, it was undercooked and the cheese slid off. There are plenty of other pizza options on the same block. Save your money.
    • Horrible mess I waited 10 mins for in blaring music.

I've been to Previti for pizza numerous times already and although the size is a bit lacking, I always end up satisfied.  Today, I was craving a meatball sandwich and I could've went to a deli like Delmonico's for it but I thought what better place to get a meatball sandwich than a pizzeria.  Right?

I walked into the restaurant and the menu said the meatball sandwich was $8.50 before 5pm and $5.50 after, which I thought was ridiculous.  But like I said, I had a craving so I ordered it.  The sandwich came in their "homemade bread" and I thought it was just heros baked on premise but it was a round flatbread, which I didn't mind.  I thought the sandwich was a little dry and would've preferred slightly more sauce in it.  And I'm not sure if the bread was sitting somewhere but the bottom of it was pretty salty and had me thirsty the rest of the day.  I will say though, that I was glad to see they used fresh mozz instead of the processed mozz they use on pizzas.

Overall, I think for the price of the sandwich during lunch hours was not worth it and I'd probably go to Subway's instead for meatball sandwiches next time.

And if you're looking for a REAL good meatball hero, I highly recommend the secret kitchen in Bowery Kitchen, which is located inside Chelsea Market.

Great pizza spot near Grand Central.  Tucked away in the back of the Chanin Building on 41st off Lex is this unassuming pizzeria.  It's not overly large but there are about 6 tables and a few stools at a window bar area if you want to sit and eat.  It's usually crowded but they do a good job at keeping up.

Skip the regular pizza and go with one of the focaccia slices.  A little pricey at $4 and change after tax, but well worth it.  I like the bbq chicken and the lasagna/meatbal slice.  The crust is excellent, consistent and overall, good quality ingredients equal a good quality pizza.  Previti has it nailed.

Their sandwiches are unique and good too.

It appears that the owner or someone close to the owner is there all the time, so he runs a great operation.  Hats off to Previti.

I can not eat a lot of cheese so I try not to eat too much pizza. Whenever I do cave into my cravings, I hope its good and Previti slices are definitely not. Ordered some regular and grandma slices with my coworkers and no one liked it. The pizza was bland and barely had any sauce. Blaaaaaahhhhhhhh.

The pizza was very tasty. I had the artichoke with spinach and cream truffle oil ...it was very good..the pizza crust was very crunchy so made it difficult to fold the pizza but it was worth every bite. The kids got cheese slices and that was very good too. Price was reasonable ...2 cheese slices and a 20oz soda for $6...the specialty slices start at $3.49 and the specialty focaccia slices start at $3.95...thanks to all my fellow yelpers for rating this

Crowded as heck but I now know why: Best pizza I've ever had.

You HAVE to try the square lasagna pizza.

Will definitely be back when I'm in New York again.

Had a Yelp deal that was about to expire at Previti so I went to use it! I got the artichoke pizza, buffalo chicken pizza, the mediterranean no cheese slice, and garlic knots (not all for myself of course ha). Everything was delicious and really surprised me. It is small and crowded but there were a couple seats still available. Good customer service. Crazy amount of variety in the pizza. Can't wait to return and try the grandma slice. They also have sandwiches subs etc... Def some of the best pizza I've had in NYC!!!

Needed a quick slice of pizza in the Midtown area and Previti seemed promising (they had a sign saying they were voted best pizza in Midtown 2 years in a row). It's a simple set up. You can order whole pizzas or pizza by the slice. There are plenty of pizza types of choose from including foccacia pizza, artichoke pizza, buffalo chicken pizza, chicken parmesan pizza, etc. They also have sandwiches on homemade bread, garlic knots, stromboli and calzone. Regular slices start at $2.75. Slices are reheated in the oven.

    * Lasagna pizza ($4 a slice): I liked the crust; it was light, thin, crispy and had a nice flavor. The crust was covered or rather smothered in creamy sweet ricotta cheese, a tiny bit of tomato sauce and tiny bits of meat (chopped meatballs?). It wasn't a bad slice but there was way too much ricotta cheese and not much else. The meatball bits (tiny dry bits) were strange and not lasagna like.

The interior feels like a deli but they have long counters where you can sit and eat your pizza while watching TV.  You can save time by ordering online and get 10% off.

This pizza is AWESOME hands down. The special that is 2 slices and a can of soda for $6.00 is a great deal. They also have a large variety of pizza, the buffalo chicken and the chicken ranch slices are good. The service is quick and very friendly. And if you eat there you will rock out to classic rock they play on the T.V.!!

Hands down, the best pizza place I have been to since moving to NYC. They have so many options and everything is under $5 dollars. My goal is to try a different slice every time, but I usually gravitate towards their buffalo chicken. Their eggplant slice is pretty good as well and my only complaint about their BBQ Chicken is that it has too much sauce for my personal liking.

Also, their chicken cutlet with bacon and ranch is to die for!

It's a collection of fantastic reviews like the ones Previti gets that makes many people doubt the accuracy or relevance of yelp reviews.

Previti makes sub par to average at best pizza.  Its your average NYC slice of pizza. Its edible but I would never eat here if I was actually in Manhattan for a meal. As for a lunch spot, meh, once I discovered all the great yelp reviews I had to try it. But all that this place is .... is meh, producing utterly forgettable pizza.

This place is the reason why there are so many chefs with zero pizza making experience who end up OWNING the pizza world. Because they put thought into it.  This pizza lacks any artisanal care, its just pizza. You go because its within a few block square radius of your job. Its two blocks from my job and I now avoid it like toe fungus. I refuse to knowingly put bad pizza in my mouth. My Brooklyn roots forbid it.

For some reason this pizza joint is relatively unknown and unheralded.  But for a "slice joint" it has some of the best, most original pizza around. They use only fresh ingredients, including home made sauce.  Crust is just the right thickness to hold their delicious and creative toppings.

And in addition to their great pizza, during the warm months, they serve Corona Ice King ices, which are the best.

+ Giant slices - slightly bland sauce, but crisp and sturdy.
+ $5.50 cheese slice and can special.  (Cannot be coupled with Yelp Deal)
+ Giant TV with random assortment of music videos for entertainment.  During our 15 minutes of cheese-slicing, we saw Bon Jovi's Sandy performance, The Jackson 5, Coldplay and Bruno Mars.  Solid.

It was good, and convenient to where I was staying, but I wouldn't consider it a destination. Some of the different kinds look fantastic though.

Used the Yelp $5 for $10 spend deal, excellent value.

Pizza was hot and tasty.  Nice, crisp base with good amount of sauce and cheese, good flavours and we were glad we had both gotten a second slice!

Small seating area but adequate for a quick midtown pit stop/refuel.  We stopped in at around 12.30pm, which appeared to be just before the lunchtime rush as while we ate it got very busy, very quickly.

One star knocked off for their opening hours, intended on picking up a pie from here on the Sunday of our trip but it was closed.  I would also looooove if this place opened late night for my much needed pizza on the way back from a night of drinking!

I went there yesterday when I was in the city. I stopped in and had a slice of pepperoni. I can't say anything bad. It had lots of sauce, it was not really greasy, the pepperoni had a nice spicy kick to it, and the crust had a nice crunch yet, not too hard. Next time I go to the city, I'd come come back to sample more because, I really enjoyed the food.

Service: It was really cold outside yet, the girl had on a tank top with heavy cleavage and she was putting on lipstick behind the counter. So, I didn't expect much customer service however, she was very nice and polite. Anyone looking for a good slice of pie in the city, I'd say, you will like this place.
