NYC Grid....

One of my Google Plus friends was nice enough to send me this link to NY Grid site, which shows old and new New York at different places plus just a visual tour generally..

http://www.nyc-grid.com/

First, the area between Union Square and Irving Place..once a key area for shoppers, the seat of Tammany Hall, and long, long ago, the center of the Theater District ( the era the musical "Hello Dolly" is set in, if you are old enough to know what Bway show and later Streisand movie)

NYC Grid is a photo blog dedicated to exploring New York block-by-block and corner-by-corner. Each post covers a new street or feature with a focus on the mundane and ephemeral.

14th St Between Union Square West and Irving Pl

A venerable nexus of the universe for the bohemian set, Union Square is a whirlwind of activity, commerce and transit. An ever-changing landscape of retail sits across from a stoically-unchanging park. The backdrop to countless meet-ups and hangouts, this stretch of 14th street is absolutely inundated with bus and subway lines.

The south side of the block is a near-impossible-to-penetrate wall of pedestrians, while the park-side is usually a bit easier to navigate. Either way, you'll never be alone in Union Square – regardless of the weather or the time of day. Going further past the tangle of crosswalks, the crowds begin to thin out a bit as you approach Irving Place.

More to come another time...
